On Thursday 1st July 2010, ambulance the Lord Lieutenant – Lady Gretton and staff of Loros held an awards ceremony to launch a book written by Mohammed Parvez Sheikh, on the achievements of South Asian leaders in the county.
One of the recipients of the lifetime achievement award was Suleman Nagdi MBE DL, Chair of the Muslim Burial Council Of Leicestershire (MBCOL) and Public Relations Officer of the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO).
Suleman said, “I was extremely grateful for receiving the award at Loros. However, I feel that Loros’s wonderful work must be highlighted and further promoted. The FMO is privileged to be associated with Loros. Earlier this year, the FMO held its own Youth and Community awards ceremony where Loros was the chosen charity to receive funds raised through ticket sales.
MBCOL also works very closely with Loros and can only pay tribute to the vital support they provide families throughout the county at such critical and desperate times. I urge everyone to donate generously and to support Loros and help them in whichever way they can, be it fundraising or volunteering.
The British public is known for its generosity when funds are raised for international causes. This should continue but one should also spare a moment in reflection for the needs closer to home. We should be thankful that we have an organisation such as Loros and their truly dedicated staff who work tirelessly providing physical, emotional and social end of life care.”
