As Secretary of MBCOL I am pleased to announce that our Chair Suleman Nagdi was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation at celebrations held in Birmingham to mark the 70th India Independence Day. The Award was for Suleman’s volunteering work for three decades in a wide range of fields including his work as the elected Public Relations Officer for the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO).
The Award was presented by MP Shabana Mahmood. In attendance were many dignitaries which included Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant; Lord Mayor of Birmingham; Members of Parliament; European Members of Parliaments; Minister of Coordination from the Indian High Commission London, pilule Shri A S Sharma; Consul General of India, Mr J K Sharma; diplomatic staff from the Bangladeshi Embassy; and many from the statutory authorities, including members of the faith communities, representing the Christian, Hindu, Sikh and Muslim communities.
We would like to thank the Federation of Indian Muslim Organisations (FIMO) and in particular its president Hamid Malik and secretary A K Gheewala for not only being such wonderful hosts but also recognising the work done by our Chair in service to the community over several decades.
