MBCOL Delight At Award For ‘One of its Own”

MBCOL is immensely proud that ‘one of its own’ has received a major honour in recognition of his work. Riaz Ravat, find one of the Advisor’s to MBCOL since 2005 is to receive the Leicestershire First Citizenship Award at a ceremony on 12th July 2010 for his tireless work with communities and public organisations in promoting understanding.
The award marks Riaz’s achievements in building bridges between faith communities and between faith communities and statutory organisations locally and nationally.
Suleman Nagdi MBE DL, Chair of MBCOL said, “On behalf of the Board of MBCOL I am so proud that one of our own has received such wide recognition. Riaz has been active with us for a number of years and helped us to broaden our work. Riaz’s award shows that despite the negative publicity, Muslims can be role models for everyone in society regardless of background and I pay tribute to his dynamism and energy. His award demonstrates that young people from minority communities are making a commendable contribution to society and we take great pleasure in this. People from other faith communities have applauded his work which shows the wide respect he has”.
