Training for Police recruits

On 13 September 2016 MBCOL Chair Suleman Nagdi delivered training to police officer recruits. Aside from presenting the recruits with a copy of our publication, the session provided the recruits to review case studies of deaths which take place at home and have police involvement. An emphasis was placed on the need to understand the sensitivities surrounding such cases including the issue of moving bodies under the care of the coroner only when there was no cause of death certificate present. Moreover, health it was emphasised that Muslims require early burial and to that end as much assistance as possible should be provided. It is this two way engagement with our police and statutory authorities which is crucial to building understanding and awareness for the ultimate objective of ensuring swift and sensitive burial for the Muslim community.
