MBCOL is dedicated to supporting local Funeral Directors, Funeral Arrangers, and other community stakeholders by sharing guidance, resources, and best practices that help deliver a seamless and respectful service for all.

Leicester’s Out-of-Hours Burial Administrative Service

Leicester City Council has a provision that allows burials to take place outside normal working hours, including weekends and bank holidays.

In November 2025, MBCOL was awarded the Out-of-Hours Burial Administration Service contract by Leicester City Council, marking the return of a vital community service that we originally pioneered many years ago.

MBCOL established the first out-of-hours burial administrative service of its kind in Europe, a model that has since been adopted as best practice across the UK.

Our role ensures that bereaved families can proceed with timely and dignified burial arrangements even outside of regular working hours, avoiding unnecessary delays at a time of grief.
